Co-curricular
and extra curricular activities carried out |
- Conducting regular Blood Donation camps in Baramati for Baramati
Blood Bank.
- Formation of Vivekanand Mission team for rural development. We
formed the groups of the students of our college to participate in
this activity. They visit the nearby villages and spread the general
information about health, education, rules and regulations, government
policies etc. to the villagers. Child labor elimination and Child
education, malnutrition awareness and Child health are other key areas
where this mission focuses on.

E-literacy
IT-Education |
-
Promote computer literacy and IT enabled education for rural school
children: 100 schools will be selected to pilot computer literacy as
well as IT enabled educational packages. The schools will be selected
to ensure maximum access to rural children who would otherwise not
have access to computer education.
-
Training of trainers / teachers: Implementation of the pilot in
schools would require training of school teachers (two for each school
selected) who would be primarily responsible for IT activities in
their respective school as well as training of trainers afterwards
-
Training of IT paraprofessionals: About 500 paraprofessional,
primarily unemployed youth, senior citizens, widows, handicapped and
others vulnerable groups will be trained in computers to help provide
a variety of computer services promoted under the pilot. Once trained,
the paraprofessionals can help in content creation & operation of
Information kiosks.
-
Curriculum development and content creation: In order to increase
the efficiency of existing teaching learning methodology, IT is the
best tool available. The idea is to develop the local language
contents (digitization) for the subjects like History, Geography,
Math, Science etc for students of secondary and higher secondary
school.

E-Commerce |
| The pilot will help
exploit latent commercial potential in the rural areas of Pune district
and increase profitability and viability of existing enterprises
(membership cooperatives). Commercial web portals would be developed to
facilitate better marketing of local products and services
("community to business" and "business to business")
as well as promote easier procurement of products and services from
outside ("business to community"). Commercial feasibility
studies would be conducted to explore the potential for marketing local
goods and services in Pune city and other demand centers. The following
initiatives are proposed: |
- Extend the use of IT to increase productivity and efficiency of
existing production / processing / marketing systems, (sugar, milk,
orchards, poultry): System management models will be developed with
the objective of increasing the productivity of existing processes in
the sugar, milk, horticulture and poultry sectors. This would include
development of MIS systems for local businesses (member payment
systems, inventory control etc) as well as production process planning
and control systems (weigh bridge, boilers, packaging etc.). The pilot
would help estimate the potential increase in productivity that can be
accomplished by introducing system improvements.
- Assess feasibility of marketing local products and services:
Consumer and producer surveys will be conducted as part of the pilot
to roughly assess the potential for marketing local products and
services. The surveys will help identify products and services with
the maximum potential and make back-end recommendations to improve
quality or modify product characteristics to suit consumer preferences
- Create IT enabled content to develop web portals to stimulate latent
marketing potential for local products and services: A web-based
portal will be prepared to help market local products and services in
Pune and other demand centers. The potential for linking up with
similar existing portals in Pune will be explored and a dedicated
portal will be proposed, if considered necessary. The pilot will
recommend mechanisms and arrangements for regular update of the web
portal. The pilot could also help establish subsidiary marketing links
with large consumers, and explore the possibility' of developing
dedicated web portals for aggregating commodity supply and linking
demand centers (with price tracking) in real time through dedicated
portals.
- Create necessary infrastructure and technology to promote IT based
commerce: - This subcomponent would require further strengthening of
VIIT to undertake additional commercial initiatives and building IT
infrastructure in other rural areas of Baramati. Technology up
gradation would need to take place in key industries and enterprises
participating in the new business model. Multi-services kiosks and
franchises would to be established in different parts of Baramati
sub-district.
- Streamline input supply to rural areas for reducing costs and
delays: - The pilot will explore the potential for regulating purchase
of goods and services from outside areas with the objective of
increasing efficiency and decreasing costs. This could be accomplished
by aggregating demand for goods at services at the sub-district level,
placing orders to least cost suppliers, developing logistics support
for physical supply of goods and services etc.
|
| |
E-Governance |
|
A major bottleneck to growth in rural areas is the
slow delivery of essential government services. Lack of efficient
government services at the local level has an impact on the initiative of
local entrepreneurs who are constantly confronted with delays and other
structural constraints. The pilot will help streamline local service
delivery through information technology, to the extent possible, focusing
on provision of essential application forms, requisition of essential
medical and security services, and computerization of essential government
records. The pilot assesses how information technology can be employed to
help improve governance. This will be accomplished through: |
-
Computerization of key public utilities (electricity, telephone etc.
credit cards for farmers): Billing and payment collection can be
streamlined through creation of "farmer cards" with
electronic accounts of farmers' dues and revenues, which can be used
to pay bills and purchase consumer products and cooperative stores.
Essential information of interest to farmers, such as rate quotes,
weather reports etc. can be provided at the local informal ion kiosks
for easy access.
-
Computerization of government records (land records, tax records,
asset ownership records): The pilot will attempt to computerize
essential land, tax and asset ownership records, at the district and
the sub-district level. Essential census information can also be made
available to local offices for credential verification purposes
-
Facilitating access to services and entitlements (health services,
forms for IRDP, ration cards, pension): Essential services, such as
emergency health assistance, payment of various types of government
pension etc. can be streamlined as part of the pilot. A variety of
forms that are required for obtaining essential government services,
such as those for obtaining IRDP loans, ration cards, etc. will be
accessed locally with a small fee. The pilot will also assess the
feasibility of requisitioning emergency health and police services
through the Internet.
